What Is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is not exactly a dermal filler; it’s an FDA-approved biostimulatory volumizer, which means it encourages your body to produce its own collagen. The result? Smoother, thicker skin and natural-looking volume that lasts.
How Is Sculptra Different from Other Dermal Fillers?
Most of the other dermal fillers we use are made of hyaluronic acid (HA). This gel temporarily adds volume just below the skin in precise areas, making it a favorite for our lips and chin and Jawline treatments. Because the volume is created by the filler itself, you’ll see the difference right when we perform your injections.
Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic form of the natural lactic acid your body produces when you work out. Instead of adding immediate volume, on the other hand, Sculptra® builds it more gradually. The PLLA acts as a scaffolding for your body’s collagen, providing a structure for natural-looking fullness that develops over several weeks. While these results take a bit longer to see, they last longer, too.
